Start With the DISCOM Printed on the Electricity Bill
Delhi does not have one universal customer portal for every electricity connection. The bill identifies whether the consumer falls under BSES Rajdhani, BSES Yamuna or Tata Power-DDL. Use that route from the beginning; choosing a portal based only on neighbourhood assumptions can create avoidable delays.
What Is Common Across the Three Routes
Each process generally needs consistent consumer details, an eligible connection, proposed capacity, equipment information, installer documents, technical diagrams and evidence from the completed installation. Feasibility, inspection, metering and commissioning remain utility-controlled steps even when an installer prepares the file.
Where BSES Rajdhani and BSES Yamuna Differ
BRPL and BYPL are both BSES utilities but serve different areas and can publish separate customer instructions or portal routes. Confirm the correct company name, consumer number format and current submission path before uploading documents. Do not reuse another consumer's checklist without checking the live utility guidance.
What to Check for Tata Power-DDL
Tata Power-DDL serves much of North and North-West Delhi and maintains its own rooftop solar information route. Keep the sanctioned load, proposed plant capacity and customer details consistent across the application, single-line diagram, invoice and commissioning records.
Prepare One Controlled Document Set
Use a single folder for the recent bill, applicant details, roof permission where needed, module and inverter datasheets, approvals applicable to the equipment, single-line diagram, invoices, serial numbers, test evidence and installation photographs. Version control matters because inconsistencies between early and final documents can trigger queries.
Separate Subsidy From Net-Metering Approval
The PM Surya Ghar workflow, subsidy eligibility and DISCOM interconnection are related but not interchangeable. A customer can meet one requirement while another item remains pending. Confirm the latest national, Delhi and utility position before procurement rather than relying on an old screenshot or verbal promise.
Plan for Utility-Controlled Timelines
An installer can prepare accurate documents and respond quickly, but cannot guarantee utility feasibility, inspection or meter timelines. Build contingency into the project plan and preserve acknowledgements, query responses and commissioning records for future billing or service follow-up.
