The terrace-use requirement

Mr. LB Roy wanted rooftop solar without giving up the terrace. The design brief was to combine two 5 kW plants into a 10 kW system while keeping enough covered space below for seating and rooftop get-togethers.

Pergola design with Metro sheet

The system was designed as a solar pergola using Metro sheet roofing so the area below the panels could be more practical and protected. This also helped address the customer's concern around water seepage on the rooftop.

Microinverters for monitoring and reliability

Microinverters were used instead of a conventional string-inverter design. This gives panel-level monitoring and supports longer service life by avoiding a single central inverter dependency for the complete array.

Incentives and customer-led finishing

Mr. Roy received a combined subsidy of Rs 2,16,000 and currently receives around Rs 2,400 per month as Delhi government GBI. After installation, he further developed the area below the pergola at his own cost to make the rooftop more beautiful and usable.
